| Trekking |
|
The outstanding
beauty of the mounts, glaciers, lakes, forests and
estuaries of Santa Cruz, turn the province into a
paradise for trekking lovers. Visitors from different
countries come to El Chaltén, the National
Capital of Trekking, to walk across its trails. The
fact of walking across narrow paths surrounded by
deep forests, breathing the purest air, or the possibility
of practising ice trekking, will make you feel one
of the most exciting experiences you have ever had.
|
| Southern
Sector |
El Chaltén offers one
of the most exciting trekking circuits in the world,
with trails that lead to the bottom of Mount Fitz
Roy/Chaltén (3,405 m) and Mount Torre (3102
m), surrounded by hanging glaciers and granite peaks.
Besides, you can also walk across the trekking trails
around Lago Del Desierto. |
| Northwest
Sector |
Perito Moreno National Park offers
interesting trekking alternatives; one of the most
attractive trails is the trail to Cerro León
(the best place to observe condors at a close distance)
and the one that leads to the highest mount of the
province, Cerro San Lorenzo (3.706 m). You can also
get to this mount from Hipólito Yrigoyen, a
small village that is located on the south shore of
Lake Pueyrredón.
In Los Antiguos area, the most outstanding path is
the trail to Mount Zeballos. |
| Coastal
Sector |
|
The best place to do trekking
on the coast of our province, that offers three fascinating
itineraries that surrounds its estuary: the one of
Siete Cuevas (Seven Caves), the one of Cañadon
del Paraguayo (Paraguayan Canyon) and, finally, the
one of Cañadon Torcido (), that allow you to
observe curious geologic formations and colonies of
sea lions, penguins and other coastal birds.
