Following the powerful orogenic strength originated by the Andes, we prepare ourselves to admire the Petrified Forest Natural Monument in the Province of Santa Cruz . These breathtaking araucarias of almost seventy metres high in some cases, fell 150 million years ago under the implacable force of the nature forces.
At 2.45 p.m. we left Puerto Deseado and we took the Provincial Road nº 281 towards Jaramillo, located at 117 kilometres.
Before getting to the mentioned village, we turn to the west and we took the National Road n º 3.
The choffer was expecting to cross someone who were returning from the Petrified Forest, but his expectations were in vain.
At the 2,072 kilometre, after 76 kilometres of paved road, we got to the Road nº 40 which would lead us to the mentioned monument

I have travelled to many foreign countries, either for job or as a tourist. I love being in close contact with nature; I’m not a “museum’s animal”. So, if I travel to Paris, I may not visit the Louvre, or if I go to Madrid and I do not visit the Prado Museum, someone would say “what a horror!!” I love knowing people, places, landscpaes...that’s what excites me. Of course, I love going to the theatre and if I visit London or New York, I use to go to theatre shows. Anyway, the fact is that I have been in many places and, as many other people, I had never visited the South. I had only been in Bariloche and I had also crossed to Chile, but it was a difficult business for me to continue southwards. So, I took one of those tours that carry you to El Calafate and Ushuaia and I could visit the glacier by taking a ligth aircraft tour. I love flyng on small airplanes, because flying on big airplanes is like travelling by bus.
